Eric (Joe) Taylor
Stewart Taylor is researching his family history and would like to know more about his father, Joe Taylor who was born on Lemont Road, Totley in 1921. Joe worked at Pickford & Holland, the local brickworks up on Baslow Road.
His grandfather was Shirley Taylor born in Dore in 1881 and his grandfather's brother, James also lived on Lemont Road.
His grandfather led Dore brass band, although the band was often referred to as the Totley Brass Band. All his uncles and father played in the band and before them in the 1800s his great grandfather, Henry Taylor (known as Harry) and his sons.
Joe played for the Dore football club in the 1930s. There is a picture of him in the Dore to Door magazine, along with a photo of his grandfather and the Dore brass band.
We are trying to find a copy of these photographs.
If you can help Stewart with his search for information, please get in touch through his website at the Taylor Family history in Dore and Totley.
