1st Totley Scout Group Archive
Totley History Group is extremely grateful to Gillian Walker for allowing us to digitize this archive. Most of the material was collected by Arthur Percival Birley in the period 1949-51 and has many interesting documents pertaining to the building of the scout hut on Totley Hall Lane. They came into the hands of Derek Maltby, Gillian's father, following Arthur's death in 1991.
The 1st Totley Scout Group was formed in 1944 and was located in Totley Hall which at the time was in private ownership. When the hall was sold to Sheffield Corporation the Scout Group had to urgently find alternative headquarters. The archive details how this was achieved.
In addition to the wonderful roll of honour shown below, four Newsletters survive, two from the 1940s and two from 1971. All the material is available for you to download in a series of PDF files.
