1881 Census for the township of Totley, Reference R.G. 11/4628 Folios 93-107


Following the consecration of the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Abbeydale in 1876, the Census records households with Schedules 1 to 76 as being in that ecclesiastical parish with the remainder within the parish of Christ Church, Dore. A parish boundary marker stands at the junction of Baslow Road and Mickley Lane.

 

The Census records a count of the number of houses, whether inhabited or uninhabited/under construction. It also records the following details for individual occupants: Name, Relation to the Head of Family, Condition (Marital Status), Gender, Age, Occupation, Where Born, and certain Medical Disabilities. We have calculated the approximate year of birth from the age given at the date of the Census.
